Casstoons returns with a brief round-up of the news at this year's Comicon.

Dan Didio repeated the same "We have plans!" thing he always says about Steph and Cass, though he did say that he was originally planning to use the in the upcoming Forever Evil miniseries, but then changed his mind.

While Scott Snyder says he wants to use them, but people above his paygrade say he can't. *hinthint*

While Joe Q at the Cup of Joe panel said that Marvel will buy Stephanie Brown if DC insists on not using them. Though he was probably just trying to stir stuff.

They also seem to have resorted to bribery to make people stop asking questions about Steph and Cass, which is... interesting. Basically when kyrax2 asked why Cass and Steph have been editted out of Lil Gotham repeatedly, the DC marketing dude gave her an iPad to hush up under the guise of her having the best costume... when she was the only one wearing one.

I only wonder why no one's petitioned to have Didio fired/removed yet. Honestly, I stopped reading DC about two issues of each comics series into the reboot.

Thank goodness I still have IDW and Dark Horse comics or I'd have gone insane by now.

Wow, they are seriously BRIBING people at this point?  Why not at least publish a one-shot with them in it, it wouldn't even have to be in-continuity, wouldn't that be easier?

You don't understand how much the higher ups at DC want to make sure she's never seen again. Heck, the thing about Steph being planned to appear in Forever Evil might even be Didio say 'look, we really did have plans for her, but your constant badgering made us rethink things. Stop asking about her and maybe we will put her in.'

I don't even like the character (I like Cass, I don't like Steph) and I still think the whole situation is weird.  They are in the business to sell comics (and merch, and movies).  If there is a large enough group of customers who are demanding a certain thing, and they have creators who have said they are willing to write/draw the characters, they could at least put out one new thing, and then if that doesn't sell they could throw up their hands and say "we tried" and at least give that as a reason, other than the often repeated "we have plans".

In their minds, that's what the Steph Batgirl series and the issues of Red Robin where Cass premiered her Black Bat identity were. Didio said that not enough people were buying that book (despite it actually doing pretty well for a book at the time) so feels it to be justified. There's a reason why people in this fandom call him the Didiot. XD

I honestly think DC will improve once he ever decides to leave the company.  Not just in relation to the batgirls, but the company as a whole.... he's made so many bad decisions.

I know that and I'm sure it will. My worry is that the company won't survive that long.

DC is the company that owns Batman and Superman.  It won't die.  Be drastically restructured, yes.  But not die.

I know, but I ment the part that makes comics. Face it, comics are a dieing indestry and the current management is doing a terrible job keeping it fresh and relevant. I doubt Warner Brothers will wait till Didio's gone before they try pulling the plug and just rely on the Batman licence.

His plans are 'don't use them.' Unless maybe for a villainization which is.. yea, not so good.

Hey, I'd be down for it!

And while Cass and Finesse and X have their similarities, they each have key differences. Cass is emotive and empathic but bad at communication. Laura can communicate fine and has strong emotions, but has trouble understanding emotions and relationships between people. Finesse can intellectually get emotions and communicate them fine, she just doesn't personally feel them very well.

Sorta similar coin, very different sides.
